Altona East Phoenix Soccer Club (AESC) is an Australian soccer club based in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Yes, AESC have a senior men’s team, as well as a senior reserves team. They play in Victorian Men’s State League Division 2 – North-West.

Yes, AESC has senior women’s teams. They play in Victorian Women’s State League Division 2 & 5 West.

Men’s and Women’s trials are typically scheduled during the month of November, for specific dates and times keep an eye out on our socials or reach out and contact AESC.

Men’s Senior season starts typically during the month of March. The Women’s season typically starts during the month of April. For specific season start dates and general queries relating to the season please contact AESC.

AESC are proud users of the application ‘Spond’.

Spond ensures AESC can easily connect to and effectively communicate with its players and members.

AESC uses Spond to communicate at all levels whether its targeted comms to a specific team, i.e., game day details allowing parents/guardians/players to Accept or Decline attendance, or whether it is a club wide announcement. Either way Spond takes the hard work out of teamwork.

To become and AESC member within Spond you will need to:

1 – Download the Spond application from the appropriate store, i.e., App Store or Google Play,

2 – Open the app, Click on ‘Groups’ and select ‘Enter Code’,

3 – Request access by typing in the AESC code RXXBN.

4 – Your request for access will be granted once it has been approved by an AESC administrator.

For the safety of players, officials and other support staff AESC requests that all non-essential people remain off the ground while training/games are being conducted.

Spectators are encouraged to cheer on their teams safely from behind the ground’s fence.

Coaching isn’t for everyone but if you love working with children, teaching and encouraging them to learn then you might be perfectly suited in a coaching role.

Yes, AESC with the help of Football Victoria (FV) have developed a well defined and supported junior development program. The club can cater for children of all ages with varying skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

The cost of junior registration will vary year to year but be confident that where possible AESC will try to minimise the costs passed on to families as much as possible.

Player registration fees go along way to support the player and club over the season, fees go towards player equipment which could include things like playing/training kits (tops, shorts, socks), track tops and bottoms, kitbag, water bottle, etc. A significant portion goes to Football Victoria (FV) for participation in the appropriate FV league, with remaining funds going towards equipping the club with all the necessary training equipment (balls, cones, bibs, poles), and to cover costs associated with ground maintenance/lighting, etc.

It is important to note that fees are a one off payment (payable ahead of season’s start) with no add on costs unless teams agree to participate in extra tournaments or activities (arranged by the club during the season).

The AESC junior pre-season starts typically early in the calendar year, i.e., mid January. For specific dates please contact AESC.

Previous years AESC have run a Summer Soccer Program which starts mid November free of charge and open to all interested children (new and or past players). The program runs twice weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday and encourages children to get out and have fun kicking a ball while meeting and possibly making new friends at AESC.

Junior season typically starts during the month of April. For specific season start dates and general queries relating to the season please contact AESC.

All junior teams train two nights per week, typically Tuesday and Thursday, with FV league games scheduled for Sunday.

AESC encourages all players to attend all scheduled training sessions (barring sickness/injury). Doing so ensures players have every opportunity to develop their skills at the same pace as their teammates, it allows players to bond with each other and ensure players develop a style of play that aligns with the club’s/coach’s philosophy.

MiniRoos is an initiative developed by the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) for players aged between 7-12 years who play on smaller sized fields.

Each year field size increases with the age groups as well as the number of players in a team and duration of the games.

Players qualify for their age group based on their age at the end of the year, i.e., 31 Dec for that year.

Example: If a player turns 8 at any stage during the year, they will be registered and expected to play in the U8 team.

AESC will provide all the necessary sporting equipment required to train/play, however players are expected to provide their own personal gear, which includes soccer boots, shin guards and a water bottle.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Shin guards are mandatory and must be worn at every training session and game day.

AESC takes child safety seriously and goes to great lengths to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all children by adhering to Child Safe standards.

AESC is a Child Safe club with all volunteers and committee members holding a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).

From time to time, AESC will look to organise formal/informal and friendly pre-and post-season games and competitions with other clubs.

These events will be communicated to players/parents/guardians in advance and provide them with opportunity to accept or decline attendance.

PLESAE NOTE: Some events may incur an additional cost above the seasonal player fees paid annually.

Volunteers are the life blood of the club and without the hard work and determination of our volunteers the club would simply not exist.

There are several activities where assistance would be greatly appreciated. For home games, parents/guardians are expected to help and contribute their time to duties such as refereeing, linesperson, team marshalling, assisting in the canteen, etc.

NOTE: A Child Safe club requires all volunteers to have a Working With Children Check (WWCC).

At AESC players will begin by participating in their correct age group. If they consistently demonstrate a higher level of skill, and importantly there are vacancies in an older age group, there may be an opportunity for players to play up.

This decision will be made in consultation with the player, parents/guardian and coaching staff and must be approved by the AESC committee.

There may be times coaches from higher age teams may ask for assistance from younger interested players if there are short term vacancies due to injury, illness etc.
