What is the Phoenix Academy?
The Phoenix Academy is a selective development program designed for motivated players who are ready to take their football to the next level.
Players within the academy will:
• Train and compete against other academies and high-level teams
• Develop a deeper understanding of the game
• Enhance technical skills and game awareness
• Train alongside players of similar ability and mindset
• Experience a more professional and challenging football environment

Who is Mario Barcia - Academy Director?
Altona East Phoenix is proud to welcome Mario Barcia as Academy Director.
Mario brings elite experience from across South America, Oceania, and Australia, combined with a strong passion for developing the next generation of footballers. His journey through high-level academies and professional environments sets a clear standard for the Phoenix Academy.
This appointment marks a significant step forward for the club as we continue to strengthen our development pathway and raise standards across all levels.
What are Mario Barcia's Qualifications?

Which days does Phoenix Academy train on?
Academy training sessions are scheduled as follows:
• Wednesday evenings
• Saturday mornings
Each selected player will participate in a minimum of one session per week, with the opportunity to attend both sessions as the program progresses.
This flexible structure allows players to build their training load appropriately while maintaining a high-performance environment.
What about Academy Cups and Games?
Players selected for the Phoenix Academy are expected to commit to scheduled matches and tournament competitions.
This may include:
• Midweek matches
• Weekend cup competitions
All fixture and tournament details will be communicated to families as soon as they become available.
Altona East Phoenix is committed to supporting academy players by keeping tournament football accessible and affordable, including reducing entry costs wherever possible.
What Age Groups does Phoenix Academy Support?
The Phoenix Academy supports Boys and Girls of playing age groups U7 – U11.
